Great wineries to visit in Napa Valley
Recently, the San Francisco Chronicle published their list of the “best tasting rooms” in Napa. If you’re planning a visit to the Napa Valley, take along this list of great wineries to visit. Always make sure to call ahead to check whether you’ll need or an appointment or whether you can just drop in. Tastings may range from $10 to $50, depending upon the day of the week, and whether you’re bundling a tour and/or food.

Owned by the Raventos family of Spain, whose winemaking history dates to the mid-sixteenth century, the winery takes its name from the Catalan word for "handcrafted." Bouchaine specializes in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. It’s located on one of the oldest winemaking properties in California. Their “Table for Two” special is very romantic! For $95.00 you’ll get a Table for Two basket designed for two adults to share. You indicate your lunch and wine selections from their list and have your concierge reserve your table for the following day. It’s available daily, but 24-hour advance reservation/cancellation required. |

Bring your lunch and enjoy a picnic in the Clos du Val Olive Grove. Tables are limited, so reservations are recommended on weekends and for groups of 8 or more. The fee to reserve picnic tables is $10 per person. You can also play the French version of bocce ball. It’s called pétanque and the Clos du Val courts are open to anyone. |

The Wine Spectator said of Silenus, "If you're searching for a hidden gem, there's no need to drive all over the valley..." Trefethen may be the only winery offering a twilight tasting. It’s exclusive – it begins after the winery closes. You’ll start at a reception with artisan cheese and charcuterie.
